The Pegasus Shaders bring together high performance with innovative features, offering a wide range of stylistic options to suit various preferences. Designed with seamless blending of cutting-edge technology and optimized efficiency, this shader delivers a unique experience for Minecraft players who value both visual enhancements and smooth gameplay.
If you’re familiar with some of my more resource-intensive shaders, such as ‘Icarus’ or ‘CTMPOMFIX,’ you’ll know that I have a penchant for pushing the boundaries of what shaders can do. However, these shaders can be demanding on hardware. Pegasus Shaders aim to strike a balance—merging the groundbreaking features of those high-end shaders with the exceptional performance of the lightweight ‘Simply Upscaled’ Vanilla+ shader.
Early Development Stage
Pegasus Shaders are still in the early stages of development. While the shader already showcases promising features, there’s plenty of room for further refinement and added functionality as development progresses.
Notable Current Features
- Distant Horizons Support: Improved visuals for far-off landscapes.
- Physics Mod Integration: Includes dynamic elements that interact with the physics mod.
- Crashing Beach Waves: Realistic wave effects (requires the physics mod and Iris on Minecraft version 1.20.1 or higher).
- Optional Texture Upscaling: Customize the graphical fidelity to suit your style.
- PBR (Physically Based Rendering) : For more realistic and immersive visuals.
- Optimized Speed: Focused on maintaining high FPS while delivering stunning visuals.
- Stylistic Variety: Offers Vanilla, cartoon, and realistic/fantasy visual styles.
Additional Notes on Performance
The newer “Vx” versions (starting from 0.3.3) include voxelization for Colored Lighting, a feature that enhances the atmospheric lighting experience. However, this comes at the cost of slightly reduced performance. For those seeking better FPS, version 0.3.2 remains a viable option but does not include the Colored Lighting feature.
By combining visuals, performance, and versatility, Pegasus Shaders aim to cater to a wide audience—whether you’re looking for vivid fantasy settings or something more aligned with a Vanilla aesthetic.
Except for special cases, Minecraft Shaders are generally backward compatible, but not forward compatible.
